Inter win Scudetto again but lose Copa Italia (again)

Posted on May 26, 2008. Filed under: Inter, serie a, Video | Tags: , , , , , |

I went right down to the wire as Inter wasted chance after chance to seal their third Scudetto in as many years but on the last match day, Ibrahimovic came out to grab a brace against Parma and kick off the celebrations. Just enough to keep Roma in second but they couldn’t go the double this time as Roma defeated them in the Copa Italia final, for the second year running.

I’m glad to say that Inter have once and for all proven themselves. The first Scudetto was awarded to Inter following the Calciopoli scandal and few accepted that Inter actually deserved the title. So the next year Inter won it on the pitch in an amazing fashion, a huge points total at the end of the season. The same people were saying that it wasn’t a real win as many teams were docked points from the scandal (such as Milan) and Juventus wasn’t even in Serie A. So now once and for all, the teams all started level and Juve was back but Inter did it again.

Now if they can only sort themselves out in Champion’s League…

Enjoy the final day highlights and the celebrations.

Lastly, the highlights from the Copa Italia final. Shame that we lost 2-1 but at least you can take something away from it with that Pele goal. That was quite a strike, see below for yourself!

New Canadian Serie A site

Posted on May 7, 2008. Filed under: serie a | Tags: , |

Just a quick post to highlight a recently launched Canadian soccer site. It focuses on Serie A but also on the upcoming Euro 2008 competition, Toronto FC and the Canadian national side. I’m always glad to see sites that focus on Serie A as it’s my favourite league. There’s some good content already and I’d expect it to grow rapidly!

Check it out at www.serieasoccer.com.

Nani red card against West Ham

I lost a huge amount of respect for Nani over this incident, although Neil should’ve done better too. They both honestly look like a pair of school girls. Seems like Nani has been spending a fair amount of time at the Christiano Ronaldo school of acting. Makes it hard to tell your friends that soccer is a man’s game when stuff like this happens in the premier leagues. Almost as bad as the Rivaldo effort, or the Dida one. Might be time for me to make a compilation of these, so if you can think of any others just add a comment!

AC Milan vs Inter (2-1)

Posted on May 4, 2008. Filed under: Inter, serie a | Tags: , , , , |

Inter had a chance to win the Scudetto for the third time running as well as defeat their bitter rivals in the local derby but it seems that Milan’s hunger for the last Champion’s League spot was greater.

The first 60 minutes were pretty much all Milan, they attacked Inter furiously and Kaka’ was causing a lot of problems for the make-shift defensive. Milan put themselves ahead shortly after the restart as Inzaghi continued his great form of late with another goal. Five minutes later, who else but Kaka’ doubled the score. Inter finally woke up and turned the tables on their rivals. Now they were attacking with everything they had and even though Cruz managed to pull one back with a lovely curling free kick, 15 minutes from time. It wasn’t quite enough as Milan held on for all three points.

So Inter only has three points between themselves and Roma although I’m pretty sure they’re safe in the head-to-head result which would decide things if they were on equal points. Nonetheless, Inter can’t afford to lose the last two games!

Here are some extended highlights, enjoy!
