Horrific Taylor tackle on Eduardo

Arsenal were held to a 2-2 draw by Birmingham but the talking point of the match was the disgusting tackle on Eduardo da Silva by Martin Taylor. You can see the footage below that he wasn’t interested in the ball and had plenty of time to pull out of it. He received a straight red but I hope he gets a serious ban for his actions. They suspect that Eduardo may have a broken leg and the game had to be stopped for eight minutes just to treat him before removing him from the field.

Seems they’ve removed that video so here’s one that’s not quite as good but shows the tackle well enough (at least until it gets removed!).

This is absolutely ridiculous. To say that he wasn’t going for the ball is ridiculous. He is a decent player who means no harm. Eduardo was just too quick for him so please dont be economical with the truth. For the truth on eduardo check this post …. http://blog.ukfootballfinder.co.uk/?p=94

Yeah you’re right, it was pretty harsh to say he wasn’t going for the ball. I guess what I was trying to say is I feel he had enough time to pull out or at least soften the blow. I don’t think it was a matter of Eduardo being too quick. There’s just no need for a tackle like that, it can be career ending stuff.

Hey i must be oe of the biggest gooners out there. It was horrific, im not easily shocked but this tackle took my breath away. i watched the footage over and over again and in no way can i see the slightest bit of intent, if you look closely Taylor was not even late, he was just beaten by a world class player who has been getting better every week. Every week there are hundreds of tackles like this or much worse, and if they were a split second either way you could see 30 or 40 players a week with this injury, its all down to luck. Eduardo will be back, sooner than we think, as for taylor, it will be hard mentally, he is a good man not like that evil arsehole Roy Keane who purposely tried to ruin a players career. Mental scars are harder to heal than physical. Oh and Man U fans, well done for being runners up this year.

As a person who used to play soccer, it was a horrible challenge. He earned the red card. You can argue that the challenge was just mistimed, but if you find other videos on the net, you’ll see the cleats were up and at mid-shin height. I’m not accusing of any deliberateness, but the cardinal sin is having the cleats up. He started the challenge late, didn’t get to ground fast enough, and had the cleats up. He knew better in that all-or-nothing challenge, and both Martin and Eduardo suffer from it.
